As Seen on TV...As seen not In Our Lives

Ellen was speaking the golden truth when she said that there are simply too many material inventions in existence today. Take the spork for instance. A nifty cutlery found at your fine eating establishments like KFC and McDonalds. With its magical spoon AND fork abilities you can awkward stab and scoop slippery foods like mac and cheese to eat faster, faster and FASTER. Don't even taste the food, it is fast food right?
Or how many of you own something from an info ad or a mall "AS SEEN ON TV" store? A majority of the products are just promotional gimmicks to $ line the pockets of this strange guy named Bob Bloke who used to live in his mother's basement playing video games thinking"Hey, the mac and cheese needs a spork or my life will never be complete..." and now he probably is buying a nice sports car living la vida la loca in Daytona Beach, Flordia due to your small purchase.
I myself, prefer to eat with food utensils that are made out of metal and do not rhyme with stork. Then maybe I am simply picky. Rock on Ellen.

Should We Stop To Smell the Roses?

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet and any other person on the metro would smell better than a musically inclined hobo. Does it take an unemployment and homelessness to drive modern mankind into listening to musical masterpieces? The sad result, is yes, yes indeed. Joshua Bell was use to earning $1,ooo a minute for his music and was brought down to around $0.50 a minute when he played in the New York Subway. Some observers view this just as an effect of the context of Bell and his violin, and the station. It is not as if he is presenting for a well known Opera House on a Friday night...it is simply another grungy morning on the metro? Is taste and class lost among the future generations of mankind? Quite possibly.
Despite people honoring Bell at his shows, the public was at it's truest barren state when they we getting off the trains in lee for work, family and friends. The music would only impede there way if they found it irritating. Minors are no longer for music, for the minor, rather miner amount of people actually listening to the words behind the sounds of the violin chords.

Entertainment is a Reflection of Our Culture....

Entertainment is a reflection of culture...being bounced off of a carnival fun house mirror. The reflection exists, yet it is not a clear representation of the viewer. When Marilyn Manson was under attack for his music being a leader attribute to the thought processes and actions behind the boys in fault for the Columbine High School shooting for the fact that people did not like him and would simply act out against his music. Manson explained how people use media entertainment as an outlet to pin down faults within out society. One might say that the playing of video games are a prime example in promoting violence among the children in America, while the real issue exist with the parents allowing the children to play these games. At a preschool I work at, one of the five year olds plays Call of Duty...what is his parental figure thinking? Not only is the kid going to grow up believing that shooting people on a daily basis is totally acceptable, society is going to spew it right back that because we have a violent culture we must enjoy violent games. I enjoyed Manson's reference to the movie, "The Basketball Diaries" in how films are a target for a populations fault. Considering the fact that
I am not a heroine addict that loves to play basketball and has a side job as a prostitute to earn income for said heroine, I find it safe to say that movies and entertainment are not cookie cutter shapes of the culture at hand. Leonardo Di Caprio is just entertaining to watch as a heroine addict that loves to play basketball.

Slide Show Indiefest 2012

Well, it will probably not be as big as 127 Hours of 500 Days of Summer, but my partner and I have an interesting slide show to present this Monday (or Wednesday). The more we are looking into the project the subject, commuter lounge employees, the more we discover how nt horrible...but shall we say unique poor employee qualities a few members may or may not have. If were any other work place these girls (majority female work place) would be fired. Zip. Squash fired. No wonder a few members did not want their pictures taken with their names!!! It shall be interesting to present. Hopefully we do not slander any workers too .....harshly?

Readings, Myspace Outage? Really People

The Myspace article (despite being a jab at myspace addicts) goes to show how helplessly addicted people are to the internet and the need to be connected. Are people that desperately in need of connection that they forget that living human beings still exist and that he or she does not need to appear hopeless and only talk to weird strangers online and hope that 1000 friends online constitutes as a real friendship in person doing actual physical activities? If there ever was a technological disaster I am sure I could survive a full day of talking to physical people instead of virtual folk. Don't get me wrong, the internet is a great way to keep connected with people....people you have met or hope to meet in person. I love to use Facebook to talk to certain friends on a daily basis yet I do not use the computer as my only personal friendship skill.
I Robot You Jane.

Tom Brady, Cranberries and a Horse Named Ed

The community project sounds very interesting to study and do the field work to observe these possibly strange and quirky characteristics of the miniature communities we are about to study. There are dozens of interest clubs and sports teams on campus to select . I think a community of sports fans, say football fans (or to avoid mass anger and hatred of defeat Pat's lovers), hockey fans. Coming from a small town I see the communities built amongst the cranberry bog owners and their work crew. The same goes for all the equine businesses and riders. If I could study a community that I already belong to it would have to be either the small ma-and-pop cafe I work at or my friend-community within the Commuter Lounge/Commuter Student Association. In both communities we support one another and accept each other for our differences yet share similarities in interest of music, television, relationships etc.
Toodles Everyone!

Hello my name is Jane Doe

The article, Facebook: Editing Myself, had the most importance to me out of the reading assignments. Facebook is bigger now then what myspace was four years ago. Myspace was used on more basic level to let users have accounts based on interest(music, movies, friends, art, etc.). Today, people use Facebook for work, school, family, friends, relationships, anything! Companies post their advertisements on the main Home page tailored to individual interest. Businesses have pages to draw interest. The users of Facebook use their profiles to create virtual copies of themselves.
Mrigaa had information on her account that she would not want her students to see. She had her interests, music, books, ,and basic information to the tee. She had to create an account that would aim to please all the viewers. But the major point is, a Facebook profile is not going to please everyone. People lie about themselves, change and amplify themselves to create what he or she believes to be an ideal version of themselves. Then there are the users that post the drunken sloppy pictures of last nights bash.
Don't judge a book by it's cover, and don't a person by his or her Facebook.
